The glazes serie „Gu“ and „Lu“ are coloured, lustrous till semi-mat, frit, semi-raw and raw decorative, by appearance highly impressive glazes with the content of PbO 40-90% of the mass. For their high content of lead and low chemical resistance, they unfit for the production of kitchenware.
They are designed for low firing temperatures from 880 till 1000°C, over 1000°C they flow down. In their surface, after the burning they are perceptible the inhomogeneities, so-called extraction, as a rule colour different. By some it is perceptible the crystallization, eventually the pelletizing to fine „crispés“. This effects are as a rule caused by different surface tension of several components, by them the molten glass is supersaturated and that are precipitated separately by the glaze cooling.
It is about the considerably unreliable glazes in reproducibility. Theirs resulting appearance is impressed with quite a number of the factors, e.g. the quality of body mass, the glaze layer thickness, firing and cooling curve, product position by the firing, kiln atmosphere etc. At the change any of them, the resulting appearance of the glaze is different. Before the using of this glazes, it is necessary to perform the test in concrete conditions by the user. They are designed for white and in colour burny body with high thermal expansivity coefficient a > 70.10-7 K-1, they crackle at the body mass with a < 70.10-7 K-1. They are suitable for all glazing techniques.
